Sergio Sette Camara loses Red Bull Ring Formula 2 front row start
Sergio Sette Camara has lost his front row grid spot for the Formula 2 feature race at the Red Bull Ring after his car failed post-qualifying scrutineering checks
The Brazilian driver had qualified second behind Prema Racing's championship leader Charles Leclerc - who scored his fifth F2 pole of the season - but his MP Motorsport car was found to have less than the required one litre of fuel left in its tank and was therefore unable to provide the minimum fuel sample required.
Sette Camara therefore loses his second place on the grid for Saturday's feature race, a result that had been his best qualifying performance of the 2017 season.
The 19-year-old ended this afternoon's 30-minute qualifying session in the gravel at the exit of Turn 8 following an off on his last in-lap.
He explained that he had felt his engine cut as he ran onto the pit straight at the end of his final flying lap.
"I did the first lap and could see that I was on pole provisionally but I knew I could improve a lot, [and] in sector three especially," he said.
"I started my push [lap] and I did purple, green [sectors], then unfortunately on the exit of the last corner the engine cut a bit and I lost a lot of time to the finish line."
The disqualification mean Sette Camara will start the feature race from the back of the grid and elevates Antonio Fuoco into second spot alongside his Prema team-mate, and fellow Ferrari Formula 1 junior driver, Leclerc.
ART Grand Prix's Alexander Albon - who is racing this weekend in Austria despite having a broken right collarbone - will now start the feature race from third on the grid ahead of DAMS driver Oliver Rowland, who sits second in the drivers' championship standings.
