Thruxton BTCC: Civics of Goff and Shedden top practice sessions

Jack Goff topped the British Touring Car Championship free practice sessions at Thruxton

The Eurotech Honda driver set his best lap of 1m16.454s in the morning session, while reigning champion Gordon Shedden's Team Dynamics Honda led the marginally slower afternoon running, just ahead of Goff.

Adam Morgan's Ciceley Mercedes A-Class was able to break up the Civics by pipping Matt Neal to the second-fastest time in FP1, before finishing the second session in third.

Andrew Jordan was the quickest of the WSR BMW 125i M Sports, going fourth in the first session, which was good enough for fifth overall.

Ash Sutton again led the BMR Subaru charge in sixth, just ahead of the Handy Toyota Avensis of Rob Austin - the pair setting their fastest times in the first and session seconds respectively.

Colin Turkington was fifth in the second session, the eighth-fastest time recorded between the two sessions, after recording 1m16.979s in the afternoon. No other drivers dipped under 1m17s.

Championship leader and 2016 Thruxton polesitter Tom Ingram seemed to struggle with maximum success ballast, and was 15th and 14th respectively in the two sessions.

The first session was red-flagged when Martin Depper's Motorbase Ford Focus went off and over a TV cable, which he then dragged around the circuit.
