Aston Martin adds Serra and Stanaway for 2017 Le Mans 24 Hours
Brazilian Daniel Serra and Richie Stanaway will join Aston Martin Racing for the Le Mans 24 Hours in June
Team newcomer and World Endurance Championship debutant Serra, son of 1980s Formula 1 driver Chico Serra, will line up with Darren Turner and Jonny Adam in the #97 Aston Martin Vantage GTE, while AMR regular Stanaway will join reigning WEC GT champions Nicki Thiim and Marco Sorensen in the #95 car in the French enduro on June 17/18.
The pair will also drive their respective GTE Pro entries in the opening two rounds of the WEC at Silverstone next month and Spa in May in preparation for Le Mans.
Serra, 33, comes into the AMR race squad after playing an integral part in its development programme with Dunlop since the start of last year in his role as a test driver for the tyre supplier.
"Having worked with the team last year in testing, it's great to now step up and have the chance to help fight for strong results in what is going to be a really competitive field in this year's WEC," said Serra.
"I'd like to thank the team for this opportunity and cannot wait to start working with Darren and Jonny."
Serra's WEC campaign will be his first full season of sportscar racing.
He has raced GT cars regularly in a number of series since 2007, the season in which he moved into the Brazilian Stock Car Championship.
AMR team principal Paul Howarth added: "Both of them bring with them the speed and consistency that we look for in any driver here at AMR.
"While Richie has, of course, raced with us for many seasons, Daniel is also well known within our operation."
AMR is stepping up its assault on the WEC in 2017 with full funding from Aston Martin for both its GTE Pro entres.
The team is also running a GTE Am car on a customer basis for Pedro Lamy, Mathias Lauda and Paul Dalla Lana.
