Matt Parry quits single-seaters for GTs for Nissan Blancpain move
GP3 race winner and 2013 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award recipient Matt Parry has quit single-seaters to drive a factory-run Nissan in the Blancpain GT Series
The 2013 Formula Renault Northern European Cup champion will join Struan Moore and former GT Academy winner Matt Simmons aboard one of RJN's Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3s in the BGTS Endurance Cup.
Parry, 23, has spent the last two years competing in GP3 with Finnish squad Koiranen GP, and took his maiden win of the series in Hungary's feature race in 2016.
He drove an Aston Martin in last year's post-season World Endurance Championship 'rookie' test in Bahrain as he sought a GT opportunity.
Prior to his confirmation, Parry had told Autosport: "We took that decision fairly early on in 2016, that the GT route was probably the way to move forward.
"But there's a great future out there, a great future to get paid as a racing driver, which is our goal and I see my future pretty bright if I do a good enough job.
"I actually really enjoy the environment in the GT world. It feels a lot more social than the single-seater world, which is quite harsh.
"In GTs you have a bigger team of drivers, so you form relationships much more [easily]."
Along with his GT commitments, Parry will also take on a coaching role for Arden's crop of Formula Renault 2.0 drivers, including British Eurocup hopeful Daniel Ticktum.
Parry and his new team-mates will be joined in Blancpain by the sister car of Lucas Ordonez, Alex Buncombe and Katsumasa Chiyo.
