Andretti boss Griffiths takes control of Formula E teams' group

Andretti Formula E team boss Roger Griffiths has taken over the role of leading the Formula E Teams body

Griffiths has replaced Mahindra team boss Dilbagh Gill and will work alongside Jim Wright, who was in charge of Venturi's commercial interests before switching to Mahindra.

That pair took over the FET body from DS Virgin Racing team principal Alex Tai at the start of the 2015/16 season.

Gill told Autosport's sister title Motorsport.com he stepped down from the role voluntarily despite being voted to stay for an additional season.

"When we started the association we said that we would have a rotation of which team principal would lead it," Gill said.

"It looked like I was going to do an extra year along with Jim which is what we started to do, but now I think it is a good time to step down because Jim has joined Mahindra and we don't want any perceived conflict with two of us working on it so closely.

"It makes sense for Roger to do it because not only does he do a good job but he also works on the Technical and Sporting Working Groups (along with Renault e.dams Jean-Paul Driot).

"One person looking after the teams interests - especially this year as it is crucial in many ways, technically and commercially - is the best policy."

The FET group, which includes a representative from every team, meets at each race on the Formula E schedule and discusses topics that range from day to day running of the electric single-seater series to future regulations and calendars.

The meetings run in two parts, one attended by team and manufacturer representatives, and another that includes Formula E Holdings bosses Alejandro Agag and Alberto Longo as well as FIA personnel.
