Porsche, Audi, Toyota 'at each other's throats' in Spa WEC - Webber

Mark Webber expects Porsche, Audi and Toyota to be "going at each other's throats" in this weekend's final World Endurance Championship round before the Le Mans 24 Hours at Spa

Last year's title-winning Porsche crew Webber, Brendon Hartley and Timo Bernhard crashed out of the Silverstone season opener when Hartley tangled with a GT competitor.

The race was won by Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb in the sister 919 Hybrid, but only after Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer and Marcel Fassler's Audi was excluded due to a technical infringement.

Audi also ended Porsche's run of 11 consecutive pole positions, dating back to October 2014, at Silverstone while Toyota's new TS050 HYBRIDs were hampered in qualifying by technical problems.

Webber says his team must "dust ourselves down", but is expecting a tough fight between the manufacturers at Spa this weekend.

"We had a good test last week in Aragon, and with a lot of mileage the car is getting quicker and quicker, which we're happy with," he said.

"But the fight at the front is very, very tough now, with Audi, Toyota and Porsche really going at each other's throats pretty strong.

"So the next two races will be very interesting, first with Spa, and then the big one in Le Mans.

"But Spa is a warm-up for Le Mans, so while we have to bounce back from Silverstone, we also have to show what we can do for the Le Mans 24 Hour in June."

Porsche will run element of its Le Mans aero package at Spa, and Webber suspects Toyota's focus is more on sportscar racing's blue ribband event - which it has never won - than the WEC title.

"The biggest threat to our title this season is actually the sister car - car #2 - and also Audi, who are extremely strong," Webber said.

"Toyota have really focused their car on Le Mans only, so let's see how they perform there because, of course, that's the big race everyone wants to win, including us at Porsche, to go for our record 18th victory, which would be incredible for Porsche.

"But over the course of the whole season it's the sister Porsche and the two Audis."
