Donington's DTM race is off

Donington's DTM date has finally bitten the dust, as a definitive calendar shows only two rounds outside Germany for 2001

The reborn series will visit Austria's A1-Ring and Zandvoort in Holland as its only 'away' races next season, after Opel lobbied to dump any long-haul events. The provisional date for the Donington race, October 7, has now been assigned to the Hockenheim finale. Zolder in Belgium, meanwhile, has also been knocked off the calendar due to work being carried out at the circuit on its original August 12 date.

The DTM's support package has also been confirmed as German F3, Porsche Carrera Cup, VW Lupo Cup and ADAC Formula Junior. The F3 championship runners won't be making the trip to Zandvoort, as it is felt that anyone competing in the Marlboro Masters there would have an advantage. As an alternative event, the series will have a prestigious double-header at the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim instead.

April 22, Hockenheim
May 6, Nurburgring
May 20, Eurospeedway Lausitz
June 17, Sachsenring
July 8, Norisring
August 12, A1-Ring (A)
August 26, Nurburgring
September 9, Oschersleben
September 23, Zandvoort (NL)
October 7, Hockenheim
