F3 Sato lands BAR test
Takuma Sato, the Japanese sensation in this year's British Formula 3 championship, will test for British American Racing in Barcelona next week
Sato will join 1999 British F3 champion Marc Hynes at the Circuit de Catalunya on December 18-19 as BAR continue its Spanish winter testing programme.
Earlier this month, the Brackley-based outfit announced it was launching a driver development programme to work with its test team to progress young talent. However this is not the first time that Sato has felt the power of a Honda F1 engine - he tested for Jordan at Jerez at the start of December.
His efforts then were hampered by rain, but with dry weather forecast for Barcelona next week, Sato should have a clear run in which to show his talents.
The 23-year-old, third in this year's British F3 championship with four wins, was the youngest ever Japanese driver to pilot an F1 car at the Jerez test. He is seen as a protege of Honda, who are keen have a home-grown driver compete in Formula 1.
