IndyCar champion Scott Dixon joins Ganassi's Sebring 12 Hours team

Chip Ganassi Racing's IndyCar champion Scott Dixon will join the team's Ford sportscar squad for the Sebring 12 Hours next month

Dixon, a two-time winner of the Daytona 24 Hours with Ganassi, and Sebastien Bourdais have been announced as an additional drivers in the Ford GT Le Mans class line-up for the second round of the IMSA SportsCar Championship on March 19.

Dixon, who drove a Ganassi Riley-Ford EcoBoost DP in the IMSA opener at Daytona last month, will share the #67 Ford GT with full-season drivers Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe.

He takes the seat filled at the Daytona 24 Hours by Stefan Mucke, who will be racing for the Ganassi-branded Ford team in the WEC this season.

Bourdais again shares the #66 car with Joey Hand and Dirk Muller.

Ganassi managing director Mike Hull said: "The addition of Scott Dixon to our Ford GT line-up enhances the depth chart.

"To have six high-calibre drivers who unselfishly know how to share with each other supports the momentum for the next step in North America."

Ford and Ganassi have yet to announce the additional drivers for the Le Mans 24 Hours in June when the WEC and IMSA Ganassi teams will combine to mount a four-car attack on the French enduro.

Dixon and Bourdais are understood to be leading candidates to take the seats in the cars entered in the WEC blue-riband event under the Ford Chip Ganassi Team USA banner.
