Danilo Petrucci could miss MotoGP opener after Phillip Island crash
Pramac Ducati rider Danilo Petrucci will miss MotoGP's final pre-season test in Qatar, and possibly the season opener
Petrucci crashed at Turn 8 during Friday's final day of running at Phillip Island, injuring his right hand.
Further checks are scheduled for Saturday in Melbourne, but the team has already confirmed Petrucci has fractured the second, third and fourth metacarpals.
He has been ruled out of the Qatar test on March 2-4, and is in doubt for the opening round of the 2016 MotoGP season at the circuit a fortnight later.
"The weather conditions did not help us working on set-up and Danilo's accident is too big a price to pay," team manager Francesco Guidotti said.
"It's never the right time to fall and hurt but surely this is a particularly sensitive time.
"It is frustrating, we know. But we must look to the future with strength and determination.
"We have to focus on the Danilo's recovery, the whole team is with him.
"We are confident that he will recover soon. The hope is that he will be on track for the GP in Qatar but now is too early to have a clear scenario."
Petrucci topped the opening, rain-marred day of the test and his best lap set before the fall put him 13th on Friday, two spots behind team-mate Scott Redding.
