Honda officially unveils 2016 MotoGP bike in Indonesia

The Honda MotoGP team officially launched its 2016 bike and livery at Indonesia's Sentul circuit on Sunday

The latest RC213V and its revised colour scheme were unveiled in front of a large crowd of fans by riders Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa.

Honda struggled in the opening pre-season test at Sepang earlier this month, with the riders reporting difficulty in adapting its engine behaviour with the now-mandatory control electronics.

Over-aggressive engine characteristics were a key problem for Honda when it trailed Yamaha in the first half of the 2015 season, but Marquez expressed optimism that things will be better when testing resumes at Phillip Island next week.

"We made a few steps in the right direction over the three days at Sepang but we need to make some more at Phillip Island," he said.

"I'm confident the HRC engineers and my team will come up with more improvements as we get used to the new software."

Honda Racing Corporation executive vice preisdent Shuhei Nakamoto is confident Honda will recover sufficiently before the season starts to ensure it can fight for the title.

"We are working very hard to improve our knowledge of the new common software and Michelin tyres," he said.

"We are also working on our new engine but I believe our engineers will be able to give Dani and Marc a good machine to fight for the championship."

During the launch event Indonesia's sport and youth minister Imam Nahrawi reiterated the country's desire to host a MotoGP race at the earliest opportunity.

"It never ceases to amaze me how much people unconditionally love and support MotoGP here in Indonesia," Marquez added.
