Tatiana Calderon moves from F3 to GP3 with Arden

European Formula 3 driver Tatiana Calderon will switch to the GP3 Series this season after committing to race for Arden International

The 22-year-old endured a trying year in F3 in 2015 and failed to score a point with Carlin, having finished 15th in the standings a year earlier.

She did however finish runner-up in the MRF Challenge to Pietro Fittipaldi, scoring a victory at the Dubai Autodrome and adding a further six podiums to her name.

Calderon also tested GP3 machinery with Status Grand Prix in the post-season test in Abu Dhabi and has now completed a switch to the category with Arden, which took Mitch Evans and Daniil Kvyat to the respective 2012 and 2013 GP3 titles.

The Colombian is Arden's third confirmed driver for 2016, and will line-up alongside Britons Jake Dennis and Jack Aitken.

"I'm really excited to be joining Arden for the 2016 GP3 championship," said Calderon. "It's another step forward in my career.

"I know it's going to be a challenging first year in the series but I know I'm in the right place surrounded by the right people to learn and make the most out of this amazing opportunity.

"Arden has been very successful in GP3; they know what it takes to be fighting up the front so I can't wait to start working with them towards that goal."

General manager Julian Rouse said: "It's great to have Tatiana racing with us this season.

"She participated in the GP3 tests in Abu Dhabi and seemed to adapt to the GP3 car really well and set some very competitive lap times on performance runs.

"Coming off the back of a strong run to second place in the MRF series over the winter I'm sure her confidence will be high and it will be good to try and keep that momentum going."
