Tom Ingram stays with Speedworks for 2016 BTCC season
British Touring Car Championship racer Tom Ingram will remain with Speedworks Motorsport for 2016 and believes he can win the Independents Trophy in the team's Toyota Avensis
The 22-year-old, who has been with Speedworks since joining the BTCC in 2014, was 13th in the standings last season and scored two second-place finishes.
Ingram said: "Having the continuity of being with the same team is great, and things were really clicking in to place for us in the latter half of last season.
"It took us a while to get on top of the handling, because it was a brand new chassis that was a lot lighter than the one we'd used in 2014. Once we did, we got some real momentum behind us.
"I think that will carry over in to 2016 and the Independents Trophy is a target."
Ingram has a test programme planned ahead of the season to test the new mandated RML-built parts and will run at the Algarve track in Portugal in February.
Speedworks team principal Christian Dick said: "I think Tom will just get better and better. He works very hard at what he does and is improving all the time.
"It is definitely time for a step forward and there is no reason we can't be winning races outright."
