International Rally Driver: Richard Burns
Richard Burns took his second consecutive International Rally Driver of the Year award after taking the World Rally Championship title fight all the way to the final round
Burns finished runner-up to Finland's Marcus Gronholm in the final standings, but capped an outstanding season with a brilliant comeback drive to win the Network Q Rally of Great Britain and become only the third driver in the event's history to win three times in a row.
The Subaru team-leader also won in Argentina, Portugal and on Kenya's gruelling Safari Rally. He was presented with his award by Ferrari team principal and former WRC co-driver Jean Todt.
"It's very difficult to say that this is the year that got away," said Burns. "Nobody in the team is too disappointed and we'll just have to try again next year."
Other winners of the award include Colin McRae, Tommi Makinen and Juha Kankkunen, who have all received the accolade three times.
