Audi's Fassler/Rockenfeller get Corvette IMSA Daytona/Sebring seats

Fassler and Rockenfeller, who are respectively part of Audi's World Endurance Championship and DTM squads, will be the additional drivers in the pair of new-rules Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs at the Daytona 24 Hours in January and the Sebring 12 Hours in March.

Both Audi drivers have existing links with Chevrolet.

Fassler, the 2012 WEC champion, was part of the Pratt & Miller-run Corvette Racing line-up in '09, driving a GT1-spec C6.R at Sebring and the Le Mans 24 Hours, and then the new GT2 C7.R at Petit Le Mans.

Rockenfeller, the 2013 DTM champion and a winner of both the Le Mans and Daytona 24-hour classics, contested the big US enduros for the factory-supported Spirit of Daytona squad in 2014-15 aboard its Coyote-Chevrolet Corvette DP.

Chevrolet motorsport boss Mark Kent said: "We feel very confident that adding Marcel and Rocky to our line-up in these two key races will maximise our chances of success.

"Their collective accomplishments speak for themselves, and they will add a tremendous amount to our endurance programme at Corvette Racing."

Chevrolet has yet to announce which of its regular pairings Fassler, who is a Daytona rookie, and Rockenfeller will each join.

Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner, Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia were confirmed for another season in the IMSA series, formerly known as the Tudor United SportsCar Championship, in early October.

Fassler previously drove with Gavin and Olivier Beretta in 2009.

Corvette Racing, which is taking part in this week's official IMSA two-day test at Daytona, has yet to indicate who might take the third seats in its two cars for Le Mans.

Jordan Taylor has joined the Le Mans line-up in each of the past four years. He is unavailable for Daytona and Sebring because he drives the factory Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara-Chevrolet Corvette DP in the full IMSA series.

Ryan Briscoe, an endurance driver for Corvette Racing last season, is widely tipped to be joining the Ford GT programme.
