McRae rolls out of Rally GB lead
Colin McRae has crashed out of the lead of the Network Q Rally Great Britain
The Scot rolled his Ford Focus just over a mile into the 19.5-mile SS12, Rheola.
"They were one-and-a-half kilometres into the stage when they were bounced out of ruts on a right-hand bend," said Ford team boss Malcolm Wilson. "The car rolled in the undergrowth and landed back on its wheels, but there was radiator and oil cooler damage. They continued for another five kilometres, but stopped when overheating meant the engine was about to seize."
The initial impact was 'quite severe', but McRae and co-driver Nicky Grist are both completely unharmed.
Marcus Gronholm takes over the rally lead, but Richard Burns is just three seconds further behind in second place.
