SS11: McRae extends lead on longest stage

Colin McRae continued to set the pace on the Network Q Rally GB's longest stage, pulling out a lead of 45secs over second placed Marcus Gronholm. As the Finn lost a further 12secs to the leader, so his title rival Richard Burns continued to shrink the gap. The Subaru driver was just 1.2secs slower than McRae, and he is now just 11secs behind Gronholm in second

Burns saw the Resolfen stage as the one that could make or break his bid for the win, but McRae's pace indicates that barring problems, the Ford driver will be hard to catch.

Didier Auriol struck trouble as his SEAT lapsed onto two cylinders 3kms into the start of the 46km stage, but incredibly he lost only one minute to the leaders.
