Service B: Burns says it’s not over yet!

Richard Burns believes he is still in with a chance of taking the World Rally Championship, despite damaging his Subaru's suspension on Friday's first stage of Rally GB, dropping the Englishman to 11th place

"We've still got two and a half days to go and tomorrow's a big day," Burns told Autosport.com at the day's first service. "I think we've proved that anything can happen."

If he is to take the world rally crown, Burns must win the event with championship rival Marcus Gronholm finishing no higher than sixth. However, the Brit's title hopes were dealt a severe blow when his Impreza WRC suffered suspension damage on SS2, costing him precious time.

"I don't know what I hit," he said. "It was only 1km into the stage. There was something in the dark bit underneath the trees. There's damage to the left rear wheel and possible damage to the suspension and the wheel bearing itself."

Burns and co-driver Robert Reid carried out temporary repairs mid-stage enabling the pair to complete the remaining stages before reaching the service area, by which time the gap to the leaders had extended to almost a minute.

To make matters worse, Gronholm has taken the fastest stage times on two of today's four stages and currently lies second behind Colin McRae. SS5 begins just before midday and Autosport.com will be on hand to bring you all the latest action.
