WRT to field works Audi drivers in SRO's Sepang 12 Hours GT race

Four Audi factory drivers will race the two second-generation R8 LMS GT3 contenders entered by WRT in the Malaysian event on December 13, which is being run by Blancpain organiser the Stephane Ratel Organisation for the first time.

Laurens Vanthoor, presuming he is recovered from the injuries he sustained in last weekend's Blancpain Sprint Series race at Misano, and 1998 Le Mans 24 Hours winner Stephane Ortelli will race one car together with another WRT regular in Stephane Richelmi.

Christopher Mies and Christopher Haase will join up in the other car, which they will share with Enzo Ide.

WRT boss Vincent Vosse, whose team came close to winning the Sepang event in 2011, told Autosport: "We think it is going to be a very interesting race, which is why we have put something together that we think is quite good."

The Belgian team is the first top-line squad from Europe to confirm its plans for Sepang, although the first batch of entries announced by SRO include two-time winner Clearwater Racing.

Clearwater, which will be bidding for a hat-trick of victories in December, will field a Ferrari 458 Italia for a roster of drivers including team owner Wok Weng Sun.

Stephane Ratel said the entry "was looking promising" for the 12 Hours and confirmed that Bentley, which indicated its intent to compete in the summer, would be present with official entries.

He explained that he expected to attract multiple cars the GT Asia series, as well as Japan and Australia.

In addition to the GT3 cars that will compete for overall victory, there will be a GTC class for one-make racers, a division covering GT4 and sports production machinery and a further category for production touring cars.

The Sepang enduro will become part of Ratel's new Intercontinental GT Cup in 2016 along with the Spa 24 Hours, the Bathurst 12 Hours and a new event at Austin.
