Huisman on provisional Macau Guia pole

Dutchman Patrick Huisman clinched provisional pole position for the Macau Guia Super Production race at Macau on Thursday, his BMW just pipping the Peugeot of Belgium's Vincent Radermecker

Radermecker, who raced for Vauxhall in this year's British Touring Car Championship, claimed that traffic around the challenging track was a factor in preventing him going quicker.

"It wasn't easy because there were a lot of cars out there," said Radermecker. "Getting a quick time was down to luck a little bit. There is still room for improvement from both myself and the car but generally I am quite happy. Nearly everything is under control."

Franz Engstler (BMW) was especially happy with his third fastest time after failing to complete a lap in the morning free practice session due to seized brakes.

"I only used one set of tyres because I think it is more important to save two sets for final qualifying, when we will have had some more time to prepare the car," he said.

German DTC champion Michael Funke (Ford Focus) was fifth quickest, just ahead of Hong Kong's Charles Kwan in a BMW.

Simon Harrison was the best British driver in 11th position in his Ford Focus, lining up just ahead of former FIA F3000 racer Kurt Mollekens. James Kaye's Honda Integra was 21st quickest and Richard Meins was 23rd in another Focus.
