Nick Yelloly to make Formula Renault 3.5 return at Silverstone

Yelloly has been competing for the Force India-affiliated Hilmer outfit in GP2 this season, with Simon Trummer taking his seat at Monza.

The 24-year-old was an FR3.5 race winner in 2012 for Comtec, and last appeared in the category for Zeta Corse at Monaco in 2013.

"The last time I drove an FR3.5 car was for Zeta Corse, but obviously driving around Monaco is very different to Silverstone," he told AUTOSPORT.

"Hopefully, after the two 50-minute practice sessions on Friday I will be able to readapt to the FR3.5 car.

"The reasons for doing it are that I have a chance to race for team that is constantly challenging for wins, and also my main sponsor is Baylis and Harding, and it's an opportunity to invite their guests to a race weekend."

Yelloly, who was originally set to switch to sportscars in 2015, admitted the rest of his year is up in the air.

"I am not sure if I will have any more GP2 outings," he said.

"I think it is very difficult if you're not with one of the top teams, such as ART or DAMS; I am not saying you can't get good results elsewhere, but it's much more difficult.

"We have been sporadic this year, because the planned LMP2 deal with Jota spilt very late.

"I missed the first GP2 race of the season and I am not in the championship hunt.

"We are working on a solid plan to further my career in 2016, whether that's a move into sportscars or into Formula 1.

"I don't want to say it has been a wasted year, as it has been very good for me.

"I have done some good performances and had the opportunity to drive a Formula 1 car for the first time, so in many ways it has been great.

"But it is a no-brainer to take up the chance to get into the cockpit of a team that is challenging for wins every weekend."
