Jeroen Bleekemolen to drive Ram Mercedes SLS in Barcelona 24 Hours

Sportscar all-rounder Jeroen Bleekemolen will take part in this weekend's Barcelona 24 Hours, bidding to add to his twice-around-the-clock wins at the Nurburbring and in Dubai

Bleekemolen, who has taken 24-hour victories at the 'Ring in 2012 and Dubai in 2012-13 with the Black Falcon team, will race a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG fielded by 2013 European Le Mans Series GTE title winners Ram Racing in the penultimate round of this year's Creventic 24H International Endurance Series.

The 33-year-old will join the team's regular line-up of Mercedes factory driver Thomas Jager, former British Touring Car Championship racer Tom Onslow-Cole and Paul White, who won the Paul Ricard 12 Hours round of the series in July together with Adam Christodoulou.

Bleekemolen said: "This will be my 38th 24-hour race, but I have never done the Barcelona 24 Hours before.

"It's great to do a new one, especially since it's with a very strong car and team."

Ram team principal Dan Shufflebottom explained that the aim this weekend was to tie up the championship in the A6 class for GT3 cars before the series climaxes with a 12-hour race at Brno in October.

"In addition to this year's campaign, we're also starting to make plans for next year and this means trying out some new drivers and seeing how they fit in with our team," he continued.

"Adam has done a great job for us this year [in three of the four races so far this season], so now we are keen to see what Jeroen can bring to RAM Racing."

Ram returned to competiton in the 24H Series this year after curtailing its 2014 World Endurance Championship campaign for financial reasons after last year's Le Mans 24 Hours.
