Moscow DTM: Bruno Spengler heads damp Saturday practice for BMW
BMW driver Bruno Spengler topped a damp Saturday morning DTM practice session at Moscow Raceway
With conditions considerably cooler than Friday and light rain falling in the region, the track was wet at the beginning of the session.
A dry line emerged and times improved, and by the halfway mark some drivers had switched from wet tyres to slicks.
Among them, Miguel Molina jumped to the top of the timesheets with a 1m40.386s lap, just before rain returned with 18 minutes remaining.
However, Spengler managed to improve shortly afterwards to 1m39.802s, his effort 0.566 seconds clear of Molina but more than 10 seconds off of Friday's pace.
Molina ended the session second, while Mercedes' Robert Wickens was third to ensure each brand was represented inside the top three.
The defending Moscow Raceway winner, Maxime Martin was fourth, ahead of championship leader Mattias Ekstrom, Gary Paffett, Jamie Green, Christian Vietoris, Daniel Juncadella and Maximilian Gotz.
Turning his first laps in DTM machinery in wet conditions, Timo Scheider's replacement Antonio Giovinazzi was 11th fastest for Audi, while Friday pacesetter Marco Wittmann was 15th.
