Tristan Vautier punished for Pocono IndyCar clash with Graham Rahal

Tristan Vautier will miss the first two hours of Friday running time at Sonoma after being found guilty of causing avoidable contact with IndyCar title contender Graham Rahal at Pocono

The Frenchman eliminated himself and Rahal from Sunday's race when he tried a dive to the Rahal Letterman Lanigan driver's inside while Rahal was battling side-by-side with Justin Wilson.

Vautier was already on probation for making contact with one of his Dale Coyne Racing pit crew at Fontana in late June.

In addition to being benched for part of Friday, he has been docked three points and fined $10,000.

Elsewhere, IndyCar issued fines for assorted violations of pitlane safety regulations. Penske's #2 entry for Juan Pablo Montoya was fined $3000 for hitting an air hose - his third such offence this year.

AJ Foyt Racing was hit with $2500 for releasing Jack Hawksworth from the pits with a loose wheel, and Andretti Autosport was fined $500 after Carlos Munoz ran over an air hose.

Additionally, Honda was docked 20 manufacturer points for changing the engine in Gabby Chaves' BHA car before it reached its 2500 mile minimum threshold.

The rookie retired late in Sunday's race with what appeared to be an engine failure.

The deduction leaves Chevrolet with 1429 points to Honda's 1083 ahead of this weekend's finale at Sonoma.
