Red Bull Ring DTM: Edoardo Mortara leads practice for Audi again

Edoardo Mortara topped his second DTM session in as many days at the Red Bull Ring, leading Audi stablemate Jamie Green in final practice

Mortara topped Friday's running at the Austrian Formula 1 circuit and made it a double in the second 45-minute session, with a time of 1m24.793s set in the opening third.

It was 0.066 seconds ahead of Green's effort, which was also set early, as the championship leader looks to bounce back from a lean run since his dominant victories at the Lausitzring in May.

With Audi's entries losing the bulk of the performance weight deficit they carried at the Norisring and Zandvoort, Nico Muller in fourth and sixth-placed Mike Rockenfeller made it four RS5s inside the top six.

Mercedes' Pascal Wehrlein was one of the few drivers to improve inside the final 10 minutes to end the session third, 0.151s behind Mortara.

Like Audi, Mercedes featured prominently inside the top 10, with Gary Paffett fifth, Paul di Resta seventh, Robert Wickens eighth and Christian Vietoris 10th.

That left BMW as the odd manufacturer out, after it dominated at Zandvoort.

Reigning champion Marco Wittmann was its best driver in ninth, while its other pilots, led by Martin Tomczyk, occupied 17th through to 23rd.
