Championship leader Gil de Ferran was lying in fourth place when the race restarted on Monday. Things were looking good for the Brazilian, as one of his championship rivals, Paul Tracy, was already out and the other two contenders - Kenny Brack and Adrian Fernandez - are behind him.
But with a $1million purse waiting for the winner at the end of the race anything could, and did, happen on the two-mile superspeedway.
