WRC Argentina: Robert Kubica withdraws to restructure RK team

Robert Kubica has withdrawn from this weekend's Rally Argentina to restructure his new World Rally Championship team

The ex-Formula 1 driver established the RK World Rally Team to run his Ford Fiesta RS WRC, with support from Italian squad A-Style, on the eve of the 2015 season after parting company with M-Sport.

He will miss Argentina but intends to return to the following round in Portugal after completing a reorganisation.

Kubica on his rapid-but-tough start to the 2015 season

"This has been a very difficult decision to take," Kubica said.

"We have always planned to compete in Rally Argentina and although part of the team, including the car, is already on site, it was necessary to skip this event.

"It is a real challenge to compete in the World Rally Championship and although I won six stages in the first three rounds, we have to be realistic and focus on improving the team in many areas.

"We plan to come back for the Rally de Portugal with a different structure, which will be systematically finetuned.

"I would like to ask all our fans for understanding and I want to thank them for their support."

Although Kubica has shown good pace during the first three rounds of this year's WRC, including six fastest stage times, a series of mostly technical problems have prevented him from finishing in the points so far.
