Priaulx lands Manor seat for Macau and Korea

Andy Priaulx is to take the seat at Manor Motorsport vacated by Antonio Pizzonia for the end-of-season Formula 3 races in Macau and Korea, according to this week's Autosport magazine

Priaulx, who took pole position for the British F3 season finale at Silverstone is to drive for the crack Manor F3 squad as Pizzonia has pulled out of the blue riband events to test for the Mo Nunn Racing Champ Car team (see separate story).

Priaulx drove for the Renault UK-backed Promatecme squad in 2000 and has been linked with the Stewart Racing (Jaguar Junior) team for next year. Formula Renault champion Kimi Raikkonen - who is in line for a test deal with the Sauber Formula 1 team - holds the key to whether Priaulx can secure the Manor drive for 2001.

"I think Andy's done a superb job this year," said Manor team boss John Booth. "It gives us an opportunity to look at him for next year if Kimi (Raikkonen) signs for Sauber."

Priaulx, 27, is keen to land a top drive for next year and will be looking to make an impression in Macau and Korea at the end of next month.

"I'm really excited," he said. "Macau and Korea are really important to have on my CV. Manor is a top team and I can just focus on my own performance."

Ryo Fukada is replacing Priaulx at Promatecme for the events. The Japanese ace was third in this year's French F3 championship.
