IndyCar teams receive new aero kits ahead of 2015 season
IndyCar teams have taken delivery of the initial road/street/short-oval manufacturer aero kits that will make their competitive debut in St Petersburg at the end of next month
Renderings of the Chevrolet kit were first released two weeks ago, while the first images of its Honda counterpart are expected to be revealed next week.
The test window for the kits opens on March 13, with several teams scheduled to run either at NOLA, Sebring or Texas ahead of the two-day open test at Barber on March 16 and 17.
CFH Racing general manager Tim Broyles said that the demands of integrating the new kit with so little testing before the first race will present all of the teams with a challenge.
"In the past you've had the whole winter to go back and do all the body fit work, and it's being condensed into about 10 days before we have to have trucks loaded for our first test," Broyles said.
"There will be a lot of lists and notes. There will still be a lot to learn for the drivers, whether they have to adjust their style or just the way the car feels so there will be a lot of work over the next few weeks for crews, engineers and drivers across the whole series."
The speedway configurations of the aero kits will be delivered to teams by April 1 ahead of their race debut at the Indianapolis 500.
