Luca Filippi to share CFH Racing IndyCar drive with Ed Carpenter

Luca Filippi has signed with CFH Racing for the 2015 IndyCar season, and will contest all of the road and street course events in the team's #20 entry

The Italian will share the seat with team co-owner Ed Carpenter, who will take over for the oval events.

Josef Newgarden will race the entire season in the team's #67 car.

"It's a great feeling. I can't wait to race and share the #20 with Ed this year," said Filippi. "I look forward to the successes we will enjoy this season."

Carpenter, who shared his car with Mike Conway in a similar deal last year, said that the potential showed by Filippi during his sporadic IndyCar appearances over the past two seasons convinced him that the 29-year-old will be an asset to the team.

Filippi's CV includes a stint as a Honda Formula 1 test driver, plus second place championship finishes in the GP2 Series, GP2 Asia and Auto GP

"We have seen the potential that Luca has shown over the past two seasons in his limited races and we feel that he will allow us to continue to compete for wins," Carpenter said.

"I cannot wait to get the season started so we can work towards our goal of claiming the entrant points championship."

Filippi made his IndyCar debut with Bryan Herta Autosport at Mid-Ohio in 2013, and has since amassed eight starts with BHA and Rahal Letterman Lanigan.

He will test with CFH for the first time at Sebring next week, with additional tests scheduled through February and March.

CFH Racing is preparing for its first campaign in its new guise after being formed during the off-season through a merger of the single-car Ed Carpenter Racing and Sarah Fisher Hartman teams.
