Chip Ganassi Racing runs one-two after six hours at Daytona 24 Hours

Chip Ganassi Racing holds the top two positions in the Daytona 24 Hours with a quarter of the race complete

Joey Hand, driving the #01 Riley DP, has a slender lead over the sister car of Tony Kanaan, with the Michael Shank Racing Ligier-Honda of AJ Allmendinger in third place, four seconds behind.

The #01 Ganassi Riley has led much of the race since Scott Dixon took the lead at the start, although the Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara DP has been a regular threat and held second place for a long period.

But shortly before the six-hour mark, a full-course caution was thrown when Andy Lally's Porsche stopped on the banking at a moment when both Ganassi cars had just made a stop but Max Angelelli, in the Taylor Dallara, hadn't.

Angelelli was forced to stop under the yellow flag, relegating him to fifth place, just under 20 seconds off the lead and almost 15s behind fourth-placed Sebastian Bourdais in the Action Express Coyote DP.

Only six cars remain on the lead lap in the Prototype class, with Richard Westbrook the last of them driving the Spirit of Daytona Coyote DP.

The DeltaWing, which ran as high as fourth early on, is the highest-profile retirement from the prototype class after suffering a gearbox problem, with the #2 Extreme Speed HPD also dropping out.

Mark Wilkins leads the Prototype Challenge class for CORE Autosport, while in the ultra-competitive GTLM category Jan Magnussen leads for Chevrolet.

The fight at the front in GTLM has been a highlight of the race, with seven cars from four different manufacturers still on the lead lap.

Oliver Gavin holds second place in the sister Corvette, with Bryan Sellers third in the lead Porsche ahead of Olivier Beretta's Ferrari.

In the GT Daytona class, Kuno Wittmer leads in the Riley Motorsports Dodge Viper.
