Valencia Formula 3 testing: Antonio Giovinazzi on top again
Italian Antonio Giovinazzi was fastest again in Thursday's Formula 3 testing at Valencia after topping three of the four sessions
Giovinazzi, who is testing with Carlin as a barometer for the clutch of new drivers the squad is trying, was quickest in three of the four sessions.
Fastest in the first session was Britain's Sam MacLeod with Motopark, and his time was unbeaten all day until Giovinazzi narrowly dipped beneath it in the final hour.
Karter Callum Ilott continued to impress Carlin and set the third-fastest time, just ahead of American Formula Renault graduate Ryan Tveter, who switched over from Fortec to Carlin for Thursday's running.
Pedro Piquet jumped up the order on his second day of testing with Van Amersfoort Racing, while next up was McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award winner George Russell, who was fastest of the quintet of Mucke Motorsport drivers.
One of these was Mikkel Jensen, who switched back to Mucke after driving with VAR for the past couple of days.
Elsewhere, Charles Leclerc joined the Fortec Motorsport line-up, Brazilian Sergio Sette Camara tested with Motopark and Chinese racer Kang Ling drove with Mucke.
Motopark also ran Joel Eriksson, younger brother of GP3 ace Jimmy, in its German F3-spec car.
The test finishes on Friday, although Carlin will be absent, having completed its programme.
