Formula E teams' association FETA formed

The 10 Formula E teams have joined forces to create the Formula E Teams' Association (FETA), it was announced on Friday in Putrajaya

The forming of FETA will give the teams a collective voice when dealing with Formula E Holdings and the FIA, and according to a statement its goals are "to ensure the championship remains competitive and compelling entertainment whilst maintaining cost control and the commercial sustainability of the series".

Virgin Racing's Alex Tai will be FETA's first chairman, with Jean-Paul Driot (e-Dams) and Thomas Biermaier (Audi Sport Abt) to act as vice-chairmen.

Oliver Weingarten has been drafted in as an interim general secretary, the same role he previously held with Formula 1 teams' body FOTA.

"I am delighted that we have set up [FETA] as it is creates a vital forum for stakeholder discussions," said Tai.

"It is in everybody's interest that Formula E is a success, and the teams want to play their part to ensure this."

The formation of FETA has been met with enthusiasm from the series itself.

Alberto Longo, managing director of Formula E Holdings: "The birth of the Formula E Teams' Association is positive news for the development of Formula E.

"We have always worked closely with the 10 teams, who share our goals to make the championship attractive and continuously grow, while maintaining its characteristic of development for technological solutions.

"The presence of the association will help the teams to co-operate with all the stakeholders on cost control; a crucial element for the sustainability of the sport."
