Pedro Piquet eyes European F3 move after Carlin test

Brazilian Formula 3 champion Pedro Piquet has tested with top team Carlin as he eyes a move to the F3 European Championship for 2015

The 16-year-old son of three-time world champion Nelson Piquet drove for two days - Thursday and Friday - at Silverstone.

While Carlin ran its five Macau Grand Prix entrants in their regular cars, testing set-ups and tyres for the Far East street race, Piquet drove the Dallara-Volkswagen of Ed Jones, who is not competing in Macau.

Team boss Trevor Carlin said: "He's good - I have to say 100 per cent he's done a good job.

"We're quite happy - there were no mistakes at all, he was very professional, spot-on. You couldn't ask for any more.

"He's a very nice lad - very young but assured of himself."

AUTOSPORT understands that Piquet is also planning to test with Van Amersfoort Racing.

Carlin also gave a run to Italian Michele Beretta, who failed to score a point this season with EuroInternational. He took a turn in Jake Dennis's regular car.

PARRY TESTS WITH FORTEC

Matt Parry, the 2013 McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award winner, got his first F3 test with Fortec Motorsport.

The 20-year-old Welshman drove on Thursday before handing the Dallara-Mercedes over to Euroformula Open race winner Alex Palou, who will contest the Macau Grand Prix.

Parry, winner of the 2013 Formula Renault Northern European Cup with Fortec, competed with the squad this year in the FR Eurocup, taking 11th in the standings.

F3 team manager Russell Dixon said: "He's just evaluating options for next year, but he was pretty impressive and really enjoyed it.

"He's more than capable of doing a good job in F3."
