Zak Brown puts his share of United Autosports BTCC team up for sale

United Autosports boss Zak Brown has put his share of the squad's British Touring Car Championship arm up for sale

The team ran two Toyota Avensis machines for its maiden campaign in the BTCC this season and fielded James Cole, Glynn Geddie and Luke Hines during the year, finishing 14th in the teams' championship.

Brown said that his increasing workload has forced him to step away from the tin-top arena.

"I want United Autosports to be successful in the BTCC and, with my growing business commitments, I can't dedicate myself to that as fully as I would like," said Brown, who ran the team with Richard Dean.

"The BTCC is a high-profile and professional series and to run at the front takes time and I simply don't have enough time to dedicate to the BTCC programme.

"United will continue to prepare and maintain my collection of historic cars and I very much look forward to competing with them in the future."

United Autosports also runs cars in the Ginetta GT4 Supercup, British GT, GT Cup and several historic classes.

Dean told AUTOSPORT that he was looking for a partner to invest in the team and help it climb up the BTCC grid.

"To run at the head of the British Touring Car Championship, we need to go to the next level," he said.

"We want to push on and invest in the team to reach the front, and we are looking for someone to come on board and help us get there.

"If we can't get to that situation, then we still have plenty of programmes to run and we will scale back to a situation that we can manage. There are a lot of things to discuss at the moment."
