McLaren junior Vandoorne could switch to DAMS for 2015 GP2 season

McLaren junior Stoffel Vandoorne could switch teams from ART to DAMS for a 2015 title push

The Belgian, who has won three races in his rookie campaign with ART, is in the running to finish second to 2014 champion Jolyon Palmer this season.

Vandoorne says that while it is not definite that he will return for a second season in the series, a switch to DAMS - which has won three of the last four drivers' titles - is a possibility.

When asked if he could switch to DAMS for 2015, Vandoorne told AUTOSPORT: "I know we are in discussions with both winning teams so we will see where we end up.

"Most likely, I will be doing GP2 again, but nothing has been decided yet.

"Whatever team I will be at next year, I should be in a good position to win the championship. That's totally going to be my goal.

"We just have to carefully analyse everything that we did this season and take the best decision.

"Both teams are very strong and have their positives and negatives."

Vandoorne won on his GP2 debut in Bahrain, but he did not score a point again until the seventh race of the season.

Since then he has been one of the form drivers in the series, taking seven podiums, three pole positions and another two victories to close on Felipe Nasr for second in the standings.

"Since the middle of the season we have shown that we are very quick," he added.

"We've been leading most of the races, we just haven't always put everything together and managed to win them.

"But we are getting very strong and I feel we can get that second place."
