Colin Turkington eyes BTCC title defence in 2015
Newly-crowned British Touring Car champion Colin Turkington is planning to defend his title next season
The Northern Irishman clinched his first BTCC title in 2009, but was unable to return the following year and did not contest another full season in the championship until 2013.
Having clinched his second success in race one at the Brands Hatch finale, Turkington is hopeful he can return next year, most likely with the WSR BMW squad with which he has won 13 races over the last two seasons.
"I'm sure we can make it happen this time," said the 32-year-old. "The circumstances are different.
"To come back and try and do it again you need to be putting your energy in now because all the others will be back on it next week. There's no let-up in this series.
"To wear the number one would be mega. I haven't experienced it yet and it's a sad moment when you don't [defend a title], but we'll make sure it happens this time."
Despite the ongoing debate about the pace of the rear-wheel-drive cars like his 125i M Sport, Turkington is not expecting rule changes over the winter.
"I don't think so," he said when asked if he thought RWD machines would be pegged back.
"I think it's balanced itself over the second half of the season.
"The MGs been strong at Silverstone and Brands. We've had consistency, I think that's what's won us the title."
