Priaulx vies for Jaguar junior F3 drive
Andy Priaulx has joined the list of drivers who will test with the Stewart Racing 'Jaguar junior team' next month with a view to securing a drive with the crack Formula 3 outfit for 2001
Priaulx is racing for the Renault-powered Promatecme team in this year's British F3 Championship, and has so far scored two third places. The 27-year-old will test for the Ford-owned Stewart outfit at the Valencia circuit in Spain.
"I've completed my motor racing education and now it's time to apply it," said Priaulx. "This will prove me one way or the other."
Priaulx faces some stiff competition for the seat from the highly-rated Italian Gianmaria Bruni, who will also test in Spain. Bruni holds the key to the F3 driver market, along with Takumo Sato and Formula Renault sensation Kimi Raikkonen, who has tested for the Sauber Formula 1 team.
Others taking part in the test are F3 race-winner Nicolas Kiesa and Formula Ford rivals James Courtney and Anthony Davidson. Last year's McLaren Autosport BRDC young driver Gary Paffett will also run in the car, as the 20-year-old's initial test was rained off.
