IndyCar has confirmed that Houston will not be on the series' schedule in 2015 due to difficulties in securing a workable date.
Promoter Mike Lanigan spoke earlier this year about the difficulties in securing a date that was not compromised by other events in the Reliant Stadium complex or the high temperatures of southern Texas in mid-summer.
"IndyCar is thankful to Mike Lanigan and his team for all their hard work and for the tremendous support of the Grand Prix of Houston that we received from Shell, Pennzoil and Honda," said Mark Miles, CEO of Hulman & Company, the parent of IndyCar and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
"We look forward to a continued relationship with Mi-Jack Promotions and will always keep our options open when it comes to an important market like Houston."
The current iteration of the 1.7-mile street circuit rejoined the IndyCar calendar last year, however CART/Champ Car also raced in Houston between 1998-2001 and 2006-07.
