Knockhill BTCC: Mat Jackson ends Motorbase's win drought
Mat Jackson won the second British Touring Car Championship race at Knockhill to give Motorbase its first victory since October 2012, while Colin Turkington stormed from 27th to fourth
Jackson's Ford Focus started fourth, but jumped to second when Rob Austin's Audi touched Gordon Shedden at Scotsman and sent the Honda Civic Tourer into the gravel.
Jackson and Jason Plato's MG6 went by the delayed Audi, while Shedden was forced to start a recovery drive that would eventually yield 12th.
Matt Neal's Honda Civic Tourer led after the safety car period the incident triggered, but soon had to serve a drive-through penalty for a jumped start.
That left the soft tyre-shod Jackson to pull clear of the Plato-Austin battle, which went the way of the MG driver by 0.7 seconds.
The main excitement, however, was behind the top three. Turkington stormed through the pack on his soft tyres, recording a fastest lap that would have been good enough for pole position.
He caught WSR BMW team-mate Rob Collard in fifth with six laps to go.
Although Collard defended, he could not stop Turkington passing him into Clark's and both then drove by Adam Morgan's Ciceley Mercedes on the start-finish straight to finish fourth and fifth.
Morgan and Tom Ingram's Speedworks Toyota Avensis were thus left to finish sixth and seventh, while Dave Newsham and Fabrizio Giovanardi made it three Ford Focuses in the top nine.
After being taken out of race one, reigning champion Andrew Jordan came through to 11th in his soft-shod Eurotech Honda.
