Sebastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia have both been taken to hospital for precautionary checks following their accident on Saturday's second Rally Germany stage.
The reigning World Rally champion crashed his Volkswagen heavily a mile onto the Peterberg stage. He had rejoined for leg two in 34th overall after going off when leading on Friday.
A VW team spokesman said: "Both the guys are OK. We have spoken to them and we know this, but we want them to go, just to get checked out.
"This is really precautionary, but from what we can see from a picture [of the crashed car] it's sure that there was some speed in this place.
"Our own team doctor is attending the hospital along with [team boss] Jost [Capito] to see them."
The spokesman said no decision on whether the crew would restart on Sunday had been taken.
"This we definitely can't comment on until we have seen the car," he said.
"As usual, we will know more about this when the car gets back to service."
VW continues to lead Rally Germany with Ogier's team-mate and WRC title rival Jari-Matti Latvala.
