Red Bull Ring European F3: Lotus F1 junior Ocon handed grid penalty

Esteban Ocon has been handed a 10-place grid penalty for the third race of the Formula 3 European Championship weekend at the Red Bull Ring.

The Lotus F1 junior, who leads the championship, has been punished for an incident with Felix Rosenqvist as they battled for fourth place in the second race on Sunday.

Rosenqvist got a good run on Ocon at a restart and began to draw alongside to the outside as they approached the braking zone for Turn 1.

Ocon moved left to claim his line and the two collided, with Swede Rosenqvist pulling off further around the lap with accident damage and Frenchman Ocon touring around to the pits to retire.

The stewards' decision relegates Ocon from fourth to 14th on the grid.

Rene Rosin, team manager of the Prema Powerteam squad that runs Ocon, admitted to AUTOSPORT that the incident was his driver's fault.
