Mid-Ohio IndyCar: Sebastien Bourdais quickest in second practice

Sebastien Bourdais ended the opening day of practice for this weekend's IndyCar race at Mid-Ohio by going fastest in Friday afternoon's session

The Frenchman, who earned his first US single-seater win since Champ Car , finished the afternoon on top with a best lap of 1m06.8271s.

"It was good," Bourdais said. "We finally had a good weekend in Toronto and capitalised on our pace, and it's great to be at the front here at Mid-Ohio.

"It's a fun place and a challenging track. We had a good test here last week and we're still digging, still looking for stuff."

Andretti's Carlos Munoz was second-fastest ahead of Takuma Sato, who himself had led the session earlier on.

Officials ended the session slightly early after Carlos Huertas spun and stopped at the entry to the final corner, bringing out a red flag with less than a minute remaining.

It was the second red flag of the afternoon, following on from a similarly harmless spin at Turn 4 by Simon Pagenaud.
