EJ prays for change of fortune

Eddie Jordan said he was praying for the team's season-long misfortunes to end as both his drivers qualified in the top seven

Jarno Trulli starts best-of-the-rest in fifth and team-mate Heinz-Harald Frentzen is seventh.

"This was a good qualifying performance. Now I am just hoping and praying things will go out way tomorrow," said the Jordan team boss who has seen a hatful of points disappear through bad luck as they have slipped to fifth in the constructors championship.

Trulli makes his US debut with his sights set on finishing where he starts - behind no-one but McLaren and Ferrari.

"It's going to be a race between McLaren and Ferrari for sure but hopefully we can keep Williams and everyone else behind us," he said

"The long straights and the possibility to overtake in the slipstream should make for an interesting race."

Frentzen said he had not got his car set up correctly.

"I suffered from a little lack of grip in the infield but I am sure most people experienced the same problem."
