Hamilton relaxed about his F1 future despite Rosberg's new deal

Lewis Hamilton says Nico Rosberg's new deal with the Mercedes Formula 1 team does not put him under any pressure to tie down his own longer-term future.

Mercedes announced on Wednesday that it had extended Rosberg's contract with a new "multi-year" deal.

Asked by AUTOSPORT if he wanted to get a similar long-term commitment, Hamilton replied: "I'm quite relaxed at the moment.

"I'm in a different position to Nico, his contract was going to come to an end this year, I believe. My contract is until the end of '15.

"I'm very, very happy in the team. At some point naturally I want to sit down with the bosses and we'll discuss the future."

Hamilton joined the works Mercedes team at the start of 2013, having spent all of his F1 career up to that point with McLaren, which along with its former works engine partner Mercedes had also backed his junior career.

He declined to rule out a move elsewhere, but said there were no reasons to look around at present.

"I've been with Mercedes since I was 13 years old and it's very difficult to see myself somewhere else. But you never know what the future will hold," Hamilton said.
