Lada to reveal new WTCC racer at Moscow Motorshow in August

WTCC Ladas, Spa 2014

Lada announced that it will unveil a concept of its 2015 Vesta World Touring Car Championship racer at the Moscow International Motorshow in August.

The racing version of the Vesta will replace the current Granta TC1 car, which has struggled against this season's dominant factory Citroen C-Elysees.

The Granta is understood to have been difficult to get down to the weight achieved by its rivals in this season's early races.

Lada Sport's engineers believe the size and dimensions of the Vesta should assist in the building of a front-running WTCC car, development of which is already underway.

"Racing is the right approach for us," said Lada president Bo Andersson. "We have a lot of fans and people who support this programme.

"The company's involvement in motorsport is important and we need to win.

"The visitors of the Moscow Motorshow will have a chance to see the new Lada Vesta racecar that has been designed for competition in the FIA World Touring Car Championship."

The road-going Lada Vesta, which was previewed in July, is scheduled to go into production in September of next year, when it will replace the Priora model.
