Free practice is over, qualifying is next…

Ferrari has ended Saturday morning's two free practice sessions on top of the time sheets, Michael Schumacher two tenths faster than Rubens Barrichello. However, no-one was able to beat David Coulthard's Friday fast time of 1m14.561s

As the hour-long qualifying session looms, Jenson Button continued his rapid pace in fourth place, again being the only non-Ferrari or McLaren in the top five.

Saturday's running started with a damp track, and while the clouds are heavy, the rain, so far, has stayed away. In a largely trouble-free 90 minutes, the drivers were able to get in more than 32 laps. Jos Verstappen and Ricardo Zonta had the least running with 29 laps.

Speeds on the long start straight were slower than Friday as the teams are tending to run more downforce on the Indy track that requires a compromise in set-up. Pedro de la Rosa was fastest this morning at 329.9kph, more than 20kph slower than Jos Verstappen yesterday.

The time for learning is over. The drivers now have just 12 laps to set their qualifying time for Sunday's United States Grand Prix.

Qualifying starts at 1300 local, (1900BST).
