British GP: Pastor Maldonado excluded from qualifying

Pastor Maldonado has been excluded from qualifying for the British Grand Prix after failing a post-session technical inspection.
The Venezuelan had initially secured 15th on the grid after stopping out on track when his car ran out of fuel, following an error by Renault on the consumption calculations.
But with cars needing to provide a minimum one-litre fuel sample, Maldonado's issue meant he could not complete the fuel checks that take place after qualifying.
A statement issued by the FIA stewards said that Maldonado was excluded from the results, but would be able to take part in the race on Sunday.
"The competitor is allowed to start the race from the back of the grid in front of any cars that failed to set a time within 107 per cent of the fastest time in Q1."
It means that Maldonado will start 20th on the grid, thanks to neither of Caterham duo Marcus Ericsson or Kamui Kobayashi completing a lap within the 107 per cent mark in Q1.
