Felipe Massa considered switching to the DTM this season before he landed a deal in Formula 1 with Williams.
The Brazilian left Ferrari at the end of 2013 after eight years as one of the team's race drivers, making way for Kimi Raikkonen to return as Fernando Alonso's team-mate.
Massa secured a deal alongside Valtteri Bottas at Williams for 2014, but during a visit to last weekend's Norisring DTM race, he said that the German series was on his radar as a possible career option.
"I was already considering it this year if I wasn't staying in Formula 1," said Massa, who was a guest of Williams engine supplier Mercedes.
"I think it's a great championship. I really like it. I'm always following the races.
"It's very competitive - I've been following since I was a kid.
"Maybe I can be here in the future."
