The Road to Indy programme has created an organised career path from karting to professional racing after striking an agreement with the US distributor of the Rotax MAX kart engine platform.
Under the new arrangement with the MAXSpeed Group, the 21 Rotax MAX Challenge divisions in the US will become an official partner to the Road to Indy, and will be clearly defined as the new first step on a ladder that also includes USF2000, Pro Mazda, Indy Lights and IndyCar.
Andersen Promotions, which runs the Road to Indy, will award four one-day tests in a USF2000 to standout Rotax drivers selected by a panel of experts.
"The level of enthusiasm for this partnership from Richard [Boisclair, MAXSpeed president] and everyone at MAXSpeed is just tremendous," said Dan Andersen, owner and CEO of Andersen Promotions.
"There is a lot of synergy between our organisations as promoters, including our goals of providing drivers with the best training and opportunities to advance. Our USF2000 points leader RC Enerson is a former Rotax driver.
"This new alliance further underscores the natural progression of advancing from karts to cars via the Road to Indy platform, and we look forward to forming similar relationships with other series around the world."
The two organisations will also work together to produce an educational video aimed at helping aspiring young drivers to learn how to become involved with the sport.
